Wolfwood and Livio are fighting and the two end up shooting each other. Wolfwood takes the drug to heal himself, while Livio heals by himself. While healing, Livio mumbles that he needs to catch up and be like Wolfwood one day. Wolfwood tells him that he needs to stop chasing after him. Wolfwood then gets close preparing to shoot Livio and kill him, but a moment before he pulls the trigger, Vash shows up and shoots Wolfwood's gun. Wolfwood then shoots and ends up killing Zazie's worm, which forces Zazie to prepare a new worm.
Livio shoots himself
Vash explains that he wants to help Livio as he is important to Wolfwood and wonders if there is something Livio would never forget. As Livio reloads his gun, Wolfwood notices is handling the gun clip the same way Wolfwood taught Livio to handle a lighter. Wolfwood then lights a cigarette and runs towards Livio. As he grabs him, he blows smoke into his face. Livio then remembers Wolfwood and lowers his gun. However a moment later he remembers his teaching and being part of Eye of Michael and puts the gun on his head and pulls the trigger, causing his body to fall off the ship.
Vash and Wolfwood trying to move the cannon
Legato states that without his brother and the orphanage, Wolfwood will lose his emotions and become a perfect believer. He then decides to take out the orphanage by force and activates the Sand Steamer ion cannon. Wolfwood see Legato and Zazie. He returns to the rest and tells them that they need to stop the ship and the cannon. Vash then leads them to an old control room, making them realize that the Sand Steamer is a spaceship. He activates the control room, but is unable to do anything and explains they need to manually stop the ship and the cannon. As they are running out of time, Wolfwood heads to stop the cannon, while Vash finds crane control room. He turns on the cranes and entangles them around the cannon then uses the hooks as an anchor, in attempt to stop the ship or move the cannon. Meanwhile, Vash has left Meryl in the control room, instructing her to activate the trigger mechanism once they move the cannon. Roberto had found a lifeboat and wants them to leave the ship as their deal was that they won't endanger their lives. Meryl refuses to leave, explaining that she has regrets of what happened on Jeneora Rock and blames herself for Tonis losing his arm. If she leaves now, she will again feel that way, which is why she is done running away. Meanwhile, Vash and Wolfwood are attempting to move the cannon by hand. In the last moment, just before the cannon fully loads, they manage to move it. Meryl then pulls the trigger and the cannon gets destroyed after it shoots in the air.
They have stopped the cannon, but the ship is still going. Wolfwood wants to destroy the ship as well, but Vash is against it as it will kill all the people on it. He is sure there must be another way and Wolfwood agrees to do it how Vash wants, but warns him that if the orphanage doesn't survive, he will hurt him really bad.
Vash wanting the plant's help
Vash tells Wolfwood to head to the engine room, while Vash himself heads to the plant room. There Vash apologizes to the plant and states its need its help. Wolfwood manages to turn a level and the ship stops before it crashes into Hopeland. Legato sees that a sand storm is coming, but Zazie explains that its not his doing. Legato then tells him to go and take Livio as they still have use of him.
