Den of Thieves (魔窟, Makutsu) is the forty-fourth chapter of the Trigun manga. It is also the twenty-fourth chapter of Trigun Maximum.

Summary

While Wolfwood and Vash enjoy a meal at a restaurant, Wolfwood spots and calls over Milly. Immediately, Milly bursts into tears and embraces Wolfwood. Elsewhere, Meryl awakens in a cage with Zazie on top of the cage. Meryl demands what he wants with her and then Midvalley and Hoppered appear from the shadows. Midvalley bluntly states that Meryl is the bait to lure Vash out, which irks Meryl. Hoppered then tries to interrogate Meryl but she has no clue as to why she's the bait, which makes Hoppered lose interest in interrogating her any further.

Meanwhile, at their room in an inn, Zazie standing atop a sandworm appears by the room's window and greets Vash and Wolfwood. Zazie proclaims they have Meryl hostage and Vash impulsively jumps and latches onto the sandworm. Vash is soon flung off the sandworm and Zazie informs the group that he'll be waiting in the Junkei Building in the Dragon's Nest.

Vash and group then head to the location and Vash notes his animosity about the area. Although Milly is suggested that she shouldn't partake in the situation she insists that she can handle herself with her weapon. Hoppered then appears atop a building and lets out a shriek that catches Vash's attention.
