Paradise (楽園, Rakuen) is the twenty-third episode of the Trigun anime. This episode doesn't cover any chapter of the manga.
Summary[]
Wolfwood's past and how he was trained by the Gung-Ho-Gun Chapel the Evergreen is shown. Fast forward to the present, Vash and group are in a town called Tonim. Wolfwood is also in the town and fixes his motorcycle when he's approached by Evergreen and recruited into the Gung-Ho-Guns. Outside of the town, Caine the Longshot prepares his ambush on the city. Late that afternoon, Wolfwood and Vash cross paths, but say nothing to each other, and at night Milly stops by his room. They talk about how he killed Zazie the Beast the other day and his thoughts on Vash. As it gets later, Milly spends the night with Wolfwood.
The following day, Vash and Wolfwood briefly talk, and Wolfwood goads Vash to fight him, he, however, refuses. Because of this, Caine interferes by sniping at the two and Vash and Wolfwood head for cover. Wolfwood proposes they split up and suggests Vash take care of Caine while he takes care of the other. With Vash gone, Wolfwood is confronted by Evergreen and the two fight. Vash manages to find and destroy Cain's gun, but in doing so, Caine commits suicide. Back to Wolfwood who was lead into a trap, continues his fight with Evergreen. After escaping from the trap, Wolfwood gains the upper hand on Evergreen, but he refuses to kill him. In doing so, Evergreen shoots him from behind and mortally wounds Wolfwood. Later, Wolfwood briefly talks with Vash and he then heads into a church to confess his sins and dies. The loss of Wolfwood, leaves everyone devastated, especially Milly.
