Rem (レム, Remu) is the seventh chapter of the Trigun manga. It's also the final chapter of the initial three part Tokuma Shoten release.
Summary[]
The Bad Lads continue their search of the Sandsteamer, a few of them unlucky enough to encounter Vash and Kaite on their way to one of the communication rooms.
One of the Bad Lads makes it back to B.D.N. with a note taped to his back. It’s some rude message with a badly drawn Vash on it. He loves the whole idea and sends the boys out specifically to find Vash.
Vash and Kaite use the communication tubes to lure the Bad Lads into specific areas. As a way for the two to keep in contact with each other, Vash leaves an old technology two-way radio with Kaite. The boy is surprised that Vash is carrying it around, to say the least. With barely a goodbye, he steps right out in the path of some Bad Lads, and they all exchange fire. Vash pauses to bandage one of them up, worried that he’d wounded the guy too severely, and Kaite yells at him that trying not to kill people would do little more than get himself killed. A little too accurate of a statement it seems, as he realizes that Vash took a bullet too. Vash explains that Rem would be sad if he ever killed anyone, but Kaite doesn't understand. He only yells at him more, that he’s too soft on the entire human race, that they all just betray one another in turn. Vash won’t have it and reassures Kaite (in another immortal/favorite phrase) that the ticket to the future is always blank. Then Vash is off again, moving through the ship at Kaite’s direction. It doesn't take long for B.D.N. to realize what’s going on, and he sets a full out an ambush for Vash, who tries to warn Kaite to get out.
