Summary[]
This chapter quickly introduces Vash when a small band of four bounty hunters open fire on him in a small restaurant. He feigns death before dispatching them with a boy's toy gun, since all but one of them had used all their ammo in the first attack. Realizing they’d all been ‘killed’ already, the bounty hunters end up leaving town without their weapons, or a stitch of clothing.
This chapter also introduces Meryl and Milly, though not immediately by name, as they saunter in a rough-looking bar and order a banana split and gateau millefeuille and Ceylon tea, respectively. The other patrons leer at them, and Millie accidentally drops her stun gun, which is a behemoth of a weapon, though non-lethal, effectively silencing their lewd commentary. The bartender drops a hint that the Humanoid Typhoon is in the nearby town of Voldoor and the girls are off.
Vash, on the other hand, is staring down the business end of a revolver held by a small waitress backed by an angry mob of townsfolk ready to cash in on the reward themselves.
