B.D.N. (ブリリアント・ダイナマイト・ネオン, Buririanto Dainamaito Neon) is the seventh episode of the Trigun anime.

Summary[]

A celebratory party is thrown for Vash for saving the city of Inepril again. The following day, Vash takes the Sandsteamer out of town without Meryl or Milly. As the steamer heads off, Vash is approached by a trained representative who wants to hire him to protect the steamer from the Bad Lads Gang bandits. He, however, declines as he's just another passenger on the locomotive. After taking a leak, Vash is bonked on the head by an air duct grill and then meets a young stowaway boy named Kaite. He tells Vash a made-up tale about his background and Vash buys it.

Afterward, Vash runs into Meryl and Milly working at the confectionary stand. The reason why they're working there is to pay off their fare for the ride. It's also revealed that in exchange for a first-class room, Vash agreed to become the ship's bodyguard. Inside the room, Kaite pigs out on the food and the two briefly talk and Vash falls unconscious due to his drink being spiked with a sleeping agent. Elsewhere, the Bad Lads Gang bandit leader named Brilliant Dynamites Neon and his gang prepares to raid the Sandsteamer. After getting the signal from Kaite they make their move. On the steamer, B.D.N. orders Kaite to consolidate the passengers in a single spot so they can be taken care of.

Meanwhile, Vash still unconscious has a dream about a woman named Rem. Down in the casino of the steamer, B.D.N. acts apprehensive towards the passengers for the paltry amount of valuables they have on hands. One his men then report they found a vault and since it can't be opened without a code, B.D.N. decides to blow it up. He forces the helmsman to steer the steamer to a location called the Enora Precipice.

As Meryl and Milly are stuck somewhere and Vash is cramped in the air ducts. B.D.N. kills the helmsman in the control room thereby taking full control of the sandsteamer. One of the bandits then brings in Kaite and B.D.N. asks if he can control it. Although Kaite isn't privy on how to control it, he is knowledgable on how its internal mechanics works. When asked why the sandsteamer is acting so funky, B.D.N. answers that he plans on crashing the steamer in a canyon to break open a safe inside of it. Kaite breaks down and begs B.D.N. to reconsider, but he reprimands him. In an outburst, Kaite claims the ship belonged to his father and B.D.N. points a gun into his mouth as Vash on the outside breaks in. After immediately taking control of the situation, Vash and Kaite escape out the broken window Vash broke through to get into the control room. Impressed by the unknown interloper, B.D.N. orders his men to capture him as Vash and Kaite struggle to stay on board the steamer.

Two bandits are knocked out by Meryl and Mille, while back in the control room, B.D.N. orders the captain to take the helm of the steamer. That is or else a hostage will die. Although reluctant, the captain acquiesces.
